What is the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program?
The SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program is an immersive cultural experience. It allows students to live with local Salvadoran families in El Zonte, fostering language learning and cultural exchange in a real-life context.

Do I have to take Spanush classes with you when I want to participate at the homestay program?
Yes, our homestay program is exclusively for our students who are learning Spanish with us. It’s a crucial part of our concept to provide you with a full immersion experience.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate you in our homestay program if you are not studying Spanish with us in El Zonte.
Is there meals provided?
Yes, your host family offers you a local breakfast from Monday to Friday, and it is included in the price.
You can also cook your own meals, and you will have your own space in the fridge to store your food.
What activities are included in the program?
The homestay program does not include any Spanish classes or activities.
How long can I participate in the program?
The program offers various durations to suit your schedule. Whether you’re looking for a short-term immersion or a more extended stay, SAY ZONTE! can accommodate your preferences. But we kindly ask you to stay at least a week (7 days) with the local family.
The maximum stay is one month!
What support is provided during my stay?
The SAY ZONTE! team is available to assist you throughout your journey, from initial orientation to ongoing guidance, ensuring that your experience is enriching and hassle-free. While we don’t anticipate any issues, rest assured that if any problems do arise, we will be there to support you every step of the way.

Can I choose my host family?
SAY ZONTE! takes your preferences into account when matching you with a host family. While we can’t guarantee specific matches, we strive to ensure a comfortable and compatible living arrangement.
Where is the host family located?
The house of your host family will be conveniently located within walking distance from our school and the beach, ensuring a maximum 10-minute walk.
Will I get more information about my host family?
Absolutely! Once you’ve been matched with a host family as part of the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program, you will receive comprehensive information about them. This includes details about the family members, their lifestyle, any cultural practices, and general guidelines to help you integrate smoothly into their daily routine. We want to ensure you feel comfortable and well-prepared for this immersive experience.

How much does it cost to stay with a local family?
The cost of staying with a local family as part of the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program can vary depending of the duration of your stay.
Your host family will provide breakfast from monday till friday, which is always included in the price.Â

I have seen cheaper places! Why don't you charge less?
We understand that there might be other options available at different price points. However, the value of the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program extends beyond just accommodation.
The pricing reflects the high-quality experience we offer, including the careful selection and training of host families and the overall support provided throughout your journey.
Also, we want to mention that we are an official business with a strong belief in creating a fair and sustainable impact on the local community. We fulfill our tax obligations, as any responsible entity should, and we are committed to ensuring fair compensation for the local families who participate in our program.
Why do you charge an administration fee?
We charge an administration fee of US$25 per stay. This fee is essential to ensure that we can provide you with the best possible service during your stay in El Zonte. It covers the cost of having a dedicated person to oversee your stay and ensure your comfort.
Additionally, we prioritize longer-term stays, typically ranging from 7 days up to one month. We do this to create a more meaningful and comfortable experience for both our guests and host families. Unlike traditional AirBnBs or hostels, our program is centered around the concept of a homestay, where you become a part of the local community and family for an extended period.
This longer duration allows for better integration and a more enriching cultural experience for everyone involved.
How can I pay?
Paying for the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program is straightforward and convenient. You can make payments using major credit cards or cash.
We kindly ask you to pay upfront directly to us (SAY ZONTE!).
Can I negociate with my host family?
While the homestay arrangement is based on a set structure to ensure fairness and consistency for all participants, we understand that open communication is important.

We’ll work closely with you to address the situation, explore possible solutions, and, if necessary and feasible, consider alternative arrangements to ensure that your experience remains positive and fulfilling. Will there be any written agreement?
Yes, absolutely. As part of the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program, we provide a written agreement that outlines the terms and conditions of your stay with the host family. This agreement ensures clarity and mutual understanding between you and the host family regarding responsibilities, expectations, and other relevant details. And what about the house?
The house provided by our host families as part of the SAY ZONTE! Homestay Program is designed to offer a comfortable and authentic living experience. While the specific amenities and layout may vary from one host family to another, we ensure that each house meets our quality standards.
Typically, you can expect a safe and welcoming environment with basic amenities such as a comfortable bed, storage space, and access to common areas.
Some houses have a shared bathroom. Also, not every house has air condition.
